Inside the galleries you will not find commercial brands, but specialized and luxury stores. Chocolatiers, a champagne store, jewelers, a glove shop, lace shops, bookstores ... All the stores have a classic style and are characterized by the quality of their products. Its windows are quite a spectacle. If you are looking for a good memory of Brussels, these royal galleries can be a good place to find it.

Galleries with history

The royal galleries are a landmark in Brussels. Currently they are used both for shopping and on the way to cross part of the city. They connect from the Grand Place part to Rue de Aremberg. If you take this exit you can go along the street that leads to the Brussels Cathedral or stop for a beer at Mort Subite, we recommend it! Will not disappoint you.

The galleries are a meeting point for the high society of the capital and also for artists.

Curiosities of the royal galleries

  • The expropriations of the land lasted 9 years and the construction of the galleries 18 months.
  • The galleries were initially called "Saint Hubert Path" but in October 1965 the name was changed to the current one: Saint Hubert Galleries.
  • They were frequented by the writer Víctor Hugo.
  • The first store of the Nehaus chocolate shop was located here, and still continues. Take a few minutes to visit this store although we do not guarantee that you can avoid the temptation to buy some chocolate bonbons! They are irresistible.
