Day trip to Gaudi's Capricho, Comillas and the sequoia forest from Santillana del Mar

We will begin the day by travelling to the spectacular Sequoia Forest, a natural gem in Monte Cabezón, designated as a Natural Monument and Protected Natural Area.

Here, an expert guide will lead you on a walk among trees over 36 metres tall, whose grandeur creates a landscape unique in Europe.

We will then arrive at Comillas, where we will make a brief stop for refreshments and restroom break before starting the guided tour of the town. During the approximately one-hour walk, we will explore the main points of interest, including the Fountain of the Three Spouts, the Corro Campíos, the Church of San Cristóbal, the old Town Hall, the Corro San Pedro, the Sacred Heart of Jesus statue and Casa Ocejo.

Next, we will visit Gaudí’s Caprice, one of his modernist masterpieces outside Catalonia. You will explore its spaces, from the semi-basement to the tower, enjoying the unique creativity of the famous Catalan architect and admiring its ceramic-decorated façade and ingenious details.

After the visit to the Caprice, you will have free time in Comillas to have lunch and explore the town at your own pace. You can enjoy the local cuisine at one of its restaurants, visit artisan shops, or simply relax on a terrace soaking up the atmosphere of this coastal village.

Following the free time, we will return to Santillana del Mar for a tour of the town. This part of the excursion is perfect if you haven’t yet had the chance to discover the details of this place, as you will uncover architectural treasures such as the Collegiate Church of Santa Juliana, the Velarde Palace, and the iconic towers of Merino and Don Borja.

We will also stroll along cobbled streets like Juan Infante and Carrera, admiring stately houses and other corners full of history.
