Oviedo not only stands out for its history and architecture, but also for its rich tradition of confectionery, which has delighted generations of locals and visitors alike.
The experience begins in the central Calle Uría, one of the main arteries of the city. From here you will reach the Pastelería Ovetus, where you can taste everything from chocolates to some of Oviedo's most representative specialities: minicasadiella or minicarbayón, a tribute to the flavours of the Principality.
Along the way we will see some of the most emblematic monuments, such as the imposing Basilica of San Juan el Real, a jewel of religious modernism.
We will also talk about the Pastelería Asturias, known for its ‘Letizias’, a sweet that pays tribute to Queen Letizia. It stands out for its exquisite flavour and for uniquely representing the values of elegance and quality that characterise the region.
The next stop is the Diego Verdú Pastry Shop, where you can taste two turroninos, small delicacies that combine flavour and texture to perfection. Ideal to enjoy on the spot or to take home as a souvenir.
We will continue our tour around the Campoamor Theatre, one of the most important in Spain. We will cross the Plaza del Carbayón and the historic Calle Jovellanos, passing by the shop window of the Camilo de Blas confectionery, known for its exquisite handmade confectionery.
This thematic route will take us to Gascona Street, known as the ‘cider boulevard’, where you will learn more details about this drink declared Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
We will walk along Calle del Águila and Calle Schultz until we reach Plaza Juan XXIII. Continue to Plaza Porlier, famous for its architecture and traditional character, before making our last stop at the legendary Confitería Rialto. Here you will be delighted with four moscovitas, the pastries that represent the best of Oviedo's confectionery.
