Arena de Cabrales - Cheese Cave
Oviedo

This is an irresistible route for Asturians, and one that you can't miss on your way through the capital to experience Asturias like a true local.

The journey from Oviedo begins in a stunning mountainous setting, following the course of the River Cares. This scenic route offers unique views of the Picos de Europa and charming little villages.

The first stop is Poncebos, from where you have the option of walking along the Cares Route, a hiking jewel known as the 'Divine Gorge'.

This is one of the most emblematic routes in northern Spain, linking Asturias and León. On this stretch, which runs along the Asturian side, you will enjoy several gorges and tunnels.

The journey through Picos de Europa continues to Bulnes, a village that can only be reached on foot or by funicular. We will do it by car, in an underground journey of just 8 minutes that will take us to a unique village isolated from the modern world.

Once in Bulnes, after a guided introduction to the village, you will have free time to discover its charm. Stroll through its cobbled streets, visit the chapel, enjoy the local gastronomy and climb to the viewpoint to admire the majestic Picu Urriellu, also known as the Naranjo de Bulnes.

In the afternoon, we will head to Arenas de Cabrales to visit the famous Cheese Cave. During the guided tour, you will learn about the traditional process of making the region's most famous blue cheese, Cabrales.

You'll learn details about its history, and you'll also be able to taste the nuances of this Denomination of Origin cheese with cider, a combination that Asturians enjoy regularly.

Book this day trip and enjoy a day in nature, discovering the culture and authentic flavours of Picos de Europa. Enjoy the natural paradise!
