Itinerary
Join this tour through two of Belgium's most charming cities. From Brussels, we will head to our first stop, starting a unique day and discover what awaits you!
Leuven
After half an hour drive we will arrive in Leuven, where we will visit the most emblematic places of this small Flemish city. We will visit the Grote Markt, located next to the town hall, and walk next to St. Peter's Cathedral, where the guide will explain more details of this Gothic temple.
The square of the university library will introduce us to the lively atmosphere of its students, who fill the streets of this town baptized as the European Salamanca.
We will continue our tour until we reach the Oude Markt square, full of bars and restaurants where you can taste the gastronomy of the Flanders region. Considered the favourite nightlife area of the locals, in this enclave we can admire the facades of the traditional Flemish buildings.
The church of St. Michael will serve as an example of baroque architecture while the church of St. Anthony will take us back to medieval times. The Great Beguinary, declared a World Heritage Site, will show us a fairytale landscape.
The red brick houses, streets and gardens of this district will reveal the history of Leuven.
Mechelen
We will move to Mechelen, another of the magical cities of Belgium, but with the advantage of not being as crowded as Bruges or Ghent. It highlights its medieval architecture and rich history.
Our walk through the cobblestone streets starts from the Grote Markt or Market Square, in the heart of the historic center, where we will contemplate the Renaissance and Baroque buildings that belonged to the wealthiest families.
We will visit St. John's Church, the Palace of Margaret of Austria and, just in front, the Margaret of York Palace, former residence of the Bishop of Kamerrijk. We will learn more details about these emblematic monuments thanks to the explanations of the guide.
And as a finale, the imposing Cathedral of St. Rudolph awaits us. Built in the 13th century, it is considered one of the major tourist attractions of Mechelen. Its bell tower is part of the World Heritage of Belgium.
