Itinerario
In just one day, you'll discover three unique spots along the Alicante coast: Tabarca Island, the port of Santa Pola, and the stunning pink wetland in the south of the province.
A different kind of experience – perfect if you're looking to combine sea, history and nature at a relaxed pace.
The day begins with a visit to the Torrevieja salt flats, home to the spectacular Pink Lake. This extraordinary site forms part of the La Mata and Torrevieja Natural Park – a protected area known for its ever-changing water colours and ecological value. Between February and May, you may even spot flamingos in the wild – one of the region’s most iconic sights. It’s the ideal first stop to connect with nature and take in the beauty of the landscape.
From there, you’ll head to Santa Pola, one of the most active fishing ports along the Alicante coast. Before boarding your boat, you’ll stop briefly at the historic Tabarqueras – former warehouses that reflect the town’s salt and seafaring past. Then, you’ll board a comfortable catamaran for a smooth and scenic trip to Tabarca Island.
Once on the island, you’ll enjoy a guided tour of the old town – the only inhabited island settlement in Spain. Once a pirate refuge and fortified in the 18th century, it still preserves its cobbled streets, a baroque church, and crystal-clear coves. Its protected marine reserve makes it perfect for snorkelling – or simply relaxing by the sea.
You’ll have free time to swim, explore or enjoy lunch at your own pace. If you plan to swim, be sure to bring a swimsuit, towel and water shoes for added comfort.
Back on the mainland, you’ll have some free time in Santa Pola to stroll along its seafront promenade, enjoy a drink by the sea, or visit its iconic lighthouse – one of the best viewpoints on the coast. After this final stop, you'll begin your return journey to Alicante.
