Lanjarón

Famous names travelled to Lanjarón trying the water with one intention: Improving health problems or trying to give themselves a few more years of life. García Lorca family, artists such as the writer Virginia Woolf, philosopher Bertrand Russell and musician Manuel de Falla are some of them. Legend says that the health of who drink this water improves.

Well, the legend and a report by the World Health Organization. It highlighted Lanjarón as one of the municipalities on the planet with the highest life expectancy.  Furthermore, various researchers point the name Lanjarón to different origins, although all versions have something in common: water.

Ta-dah-dah! We are sure that if Harry Potter had known this, he would have visited Lanjarón and prevented the confrontation about to guard the secret of immortality. There are 23 pillars or fountains throughout the municipality. Will you leave without a sip of the water of life? Every second counts!

But the visit is much more than just adding a few days of life, we are going to walk through Plaza de la Constitución and to see some cannons, niches and the Ermita del Tajo de la Cruz. And we are going to stop at the Salao Park which is full of Eucalyptus trees, clean and pure for our lungs!

Pampaneira

Pampaneira is a picture postcard image. Situated between the mountains, their white houses are filled with colors thanks to their balconies. ¡Full of plants!

But the visitor's attention is in San Antonio fountain, also known as Chumpaneira. On its mural you can read: "It has such a magnitude that a bachelor who drinks with the intention of getting married does not fail, because he instantly has a girlfriend, you see! Who needs a dating app when you have this fountain in town? Let us know if it works!

We are going to visit the Plaza de la Libertad, the Church of Santa Cruz and, of course, we will get lost in the streets while we're talking about history and curiosities of the most charming corners. We are sure you will want to take a lot of pictures! And finally, if you want a souvenir, we are going to visit artisan workshops and carpet and “jarapas” shops. But, there are more!

Trevélez

It's interesting to know that “In Trevélez, you will touch the sky”, or that is what the viewpoint at the entrance says. ¿Reason? You will be 1,476 metres above sea level. ¡OMG!

And, by the way, did you know that…? From the top you can see Africa, and it is the point in Spain where the most shooting stars pass by per minute. Spectacular place, isn't it?

But Trevélez is known for its exquisite hams cured at an altitude. In fact, it has a Protected Designation of Origin. Food of kings and queens! Did you know that even Queen Isabel II, in 1862, granted them the privilege of bearing the royal seal because she loved them so much?

And since you are a king for us, how about we try it? But first, we will visit the dryer, where we know the process of making ham. Discovering it will make you have long teeth, so nothing better than a tasting to satisfy your appetite. And then? If you're going to want to eat it every day! Do not worry! In the dryer shop you can buy ham, sausage, different types of cheese and varieties of local wines. Enjoy your meal!

On the way home, surely more than one invites himself to eat... And after the sausage, something sweet for dessert! Buy what you want and do not forget to enjoy the incredible views of the mountains. Book now!
